Della Moustachella

Michael McCurdy

Joey Pipia
(Artistic Director) studied acting with Oscar winner William Hickey, and at New York University. He is a graduate of The Joanne Barron Acting Studio in Los Angeles where he studied the Sanford Meisner Acting Technique. He spreads the good word of theater as a teacher, director, actor, and magician. Joey has appeared on TV, film, and on stages across the country. He currently tours with The New Old Time Chautauqua vaudeville and educational circus.

Della Moustachella A combination of clowning, physical theater, comedy, improv, and circus skills is how someone might describe what Della Moustachella does, but not Della herself.  Instead, she's more likely to fake trip over something before she gives you a big hug and then asks you what YOU are up to, glazing over her experiences performing all over the northwest, teaching classes on play, and her ongoing studies with physical comedy/clown instructors such as Avner the Eccentric (Maine), Phillipe Gaullier (France), David MacMurray-Smith (Canada), and more.

Michael McCurdy
spent his teens experimenting with stop motion-animation, special effects, and making home movies with friends. He went on to study at the Seattle Film Institute and now continues filmmaking as a director, cinematographer, editor, and animator.

He currently films events, promotional videos, music videos, and short films. His films emphasis visual story telling with action and physical comedy frequently playing a strong role.

Nate Hughes
began with the Humboldt Circus as a juggler and clown in 2010.  He has toured internationally with the Circo Que Chilero, and with the New Old Time Chautauqua, an educational vaudeville circus. For the past four years, Nate has taught circus arts to children and adults in public schools, community centers, and theaters. He has performed and taught at numerous festivals on the West Coast including the Benbow Summer Arts and Music Festival and the Oregon Country Fair.

Phina Pipia
co-founded Generation Goat Rocket in 2009.  She has since written, choreographed, and composed seven full-length shows for the company. She tours as a magician and mentalist with Delusions of Grandeur, and worked as a dancer with the Julian Barnett Project in New York City. Phina performs as one half of The Pipia Sisters, writing original songs with her real-life sister, Sophie. She tours with the vaudeville circus, The New Old Time Chautauqua, and exhibits her paintings in the show, Hold Onto Your Hats. Phina graduated with honors from the Conservatory of Dance at SUNY Purchase, where she studied dance and music.

Erin Kohout is a professional dancer, choreographer, and teacher. After spending her childhood studying ballet in Southern California, she moved to New York to attend the Dance Conservatory at SUNY Purchase. Since graduation, she has toured nationally and internationally with Generation Goat Rocket, Cori Kresge, Peaches, Marina Abramovic, Theatre Mab, and D Montalvo with Robert Moses Kin. She currently lives in Oakland, California.
